Teen charged for police pursuit that ended in Downey
DOWNEY – A man was charged Tuesday with fleeing police officers in a car chase from Boyle Heights to Downey.
Nathan Maldonado, 18, faces one felony count of fleeing a pursuing peace officer while driving recklessly.
According to prosecutors, Maldonado was driving a red Ford Mustang on May 4 and LAPD officers attempted to pull him over in Boyle Heights.
Maldonado fled, leading police on a chase on the 710 and 5 freeways before stopping in Downey where he was arrested.
Maldonado has pleaded not guilty to the charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21.
If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison. Prosecutors requested bail be set at $150,000.
