Student tickets only $15 for 'Newsies'
LA MIRADA -- “Newsies,” the Disney musical that won a pair of 2012 Tony Awards for its score and choreography, will play the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts beginning June 1.
The musical is based on the 1992 film “Newsies,” which in turn was inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City. The stage adaptation premiered on Broadway in 2012 and was nominated for 12 Tony Awards, winning two.
“Newsies” will run June 1 through June 24. Performances are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.; Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sundays at 2 p.m.
There will be an additional performance on Friday, June 22, at 1 p.m.
There will be an open-captioned performance June 16 at 2 p.m. and an American Sign Language-interpreted performance on June 23 at 2 p.m. Talkbacks with the cast and creative team will be June 6 and June 20.

Student tickets for $15 are available for the first 15 performances.
