The Downey Patriot is a weekly newspaper covering the city of Downey, Calif.

Established in 2002 by John Adams, the Patriot covers issues of interest to Downey residents and stakeholders, such as city council and school board meetings, high school sports, crime, food and dining, entertainment, non-profits, health and real estate.

In 2007, the newspaper was purchased by Jennifer DeKay, a Downey native who understood the importance of community journalism. One of her first priorities was to invest in the paper’s digital footprint, creating a new website that helped the Patriot reach a wider audience.

A small but mighty staff, the Downey Patriot has been recognized numerous times for its journalism, including awards from the L.A. Press Club and California Newspaper Publishers Association.

The Downey Patriot offers a variety of services for business owners to advertise their business.  Our Classified Advertising offers a variety of services, for rent and yard sales.  The Downey Patriot is a newspaper of general circulation and can publish Fictitious Business Name Statements, Trustee Sales, Name Changes, Probates and Lien Sales.

Today, the Downey Patriot reaches tens of thousands of readers on a weekly basis via its print newspaper, website, and social media channels.
