Police search for cell phone thief

DOWNEY – Detectives are searching for a man accused of stealing several cell phones from a T-Mobile store in Downey. 

The suspect entered the store, located at 9400 Firestone Blvd., at about 6 p.m. on June 26. He selected several phones and fled without paying for the merchandise, police said. 

Authorities said the suspect may be responsible for similar thefts in South Gate and Huntington Park. 

Police did not provide a description of the suspect but security footage appears to show a black man in his early 20s.
