Police arrest suspects in armed carjacking

DOWNEY — Six suspects were arrested in connection with an armed carjacking and other violent crimes in Downey and surrounding cities, authorities announced Wednesday.

The carjacking was reported Nov. 17, 2023 at approximately 1:45 am on the 8300 block of Firestone Boulevard.

Downey detectives identified a crew who was involved in additional crimes, including shootings, within Downey and surrounding cities, officials said.

Downey’s SWAT team, along with SWAT units from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms), San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and Bell Gardens Police Department simultaneously served eight arrest/search warrants in multiple cities on Jan. 17.

Six suspects arrested and booked on various charges, including armed carjacking, attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, robbery and vehicle theft.

Several items of evidence were also recovered.
