Man shot, killed in Bellflower identified by authorities
BELLFLOWER - Authorities Monday publicly identified the 29-year- old homeless man killed in a Bellflower shooting investigators said appeared to be gang related.
Deputies with the Lakewood Sheriff's Station responded at 8:36 p.m. Saturday to reports of a gunshot victim at the intersection of Alondra Boulevard and Eucalyptus Avenue, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
They found Samuel Figueroa lying unresponsive on the sidewalk and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, Koerner said.
Deputies said Figueroa had been involved in an argument with two other men when one of them pulled out a handgun and shot him.
Both men fled southbound on Eucalyptus Avenue, Koerner said.
Figueroa was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff's Lt. Derrick Alfred said.
No further information was available about the circumstances of the shooting or the suspects.
Anyone with information on the shooting was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
