Downey Police seek help locating suspected armed robbers

DOWNEY — Police sought the public's assistance Thursday in locating two men suspected of an armed robbery and kidnapping at a jewelry store in Downey.

Officers responded to the 7600 block of Firestone Boulevard to reports of a business robbery around 10:15 a.m. Saturday, where two men believed to be of Central or South American descent asked a representative to view merchandise moments before allegedly tackling and gagging the associate, according to the Downey Police Department.

Police said one of the men then forced the victim at gunpoint into a back stockroom, holding the victim down while the other suspect began ransacking the business, taking approximately $100,000 worth of gold jewelry and watches.

Investigators identified one suspect as a Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s, between 5 feet, 6 inches and 6 feet tall, weighing about 160 to 180 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The second suspect was also described as a Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s, about 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing about 160 to 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
