Popular poet reads work in Downey

DOWNEY – Brian Tracey read some of his newest poetry at a Poetry Matters event last week at Stay Gallery. The event celebrated National Poetry Month, established in 1992 by the American Academy of Poets.

Tracy’s works have been said to “drift magically between the spirit world and the ‘howl and hunger’ of the world we know.” His latest volume is “Opaque Traveler: Dream Sequences in Verse.” He was invited to share his book at a recent “Symposia on Myth” in Santa Barbara.

Tracy has performed his folk-rock poem, “Blackbird Ballads,” at the Magic Castle in Redondo Beach. He is also the author of “Between Distant Shores” and “Driving with Dante.”

He has been invited to read a variety of venues including the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.

Born, raised and educated in Boston, he now lives in Palm Desert with his wife, Kathleen.
