DUSD announces new school principals

DOWNEY – The Downey Unified School District has appointed two new elementary school principals. Charlene Shimada is the new principal at Alameda Elementary.

She has been with DUSD since 2001, and has been a first-grade teacher at Lewis Elementary and a fifth-grade teacher at Carpenter Elementary.

Most recently, she was a resource teacher, also at Carpenter.

Lynn Ebora is new to DUSD and was hired as principal of Rio San Gabriel Elementary.

Ebora began her teaching careering with the Mountain View School District in 1990 as a first and fifth-grade teacher.

She moved to the Culver City Unified School District in 1998, teaching second grade and serving as a data and intervention specialist.

She was later promoted to principal of Farragut Elementary, helping the campus reach an API score of 940 and become a California Distinguished School.

She was promoted to the CCUSD district office to spearhead the district’s implementation of the Common Core standards.
