Downey woman killed in hit-and-run

DOWNEY – A 67-year-old Downey woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver outside a Lakewood hospital Tuesday night. Teresa Hernandez and her adult daughter were walking across South Street towards Lakewood Regional Medical Center at about 9:56 p.m. when Hernandez was struck by a vehicle.

The car fled westbound towards Downey Avenue.

The daughter was not hurt.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a compact black Nissan or Honda. It likely has extensive front end damage.
