5K walk in Long Beach Sunday

DOWNEY – Connor Waterman, the 5-year-old grandson of longtime Downey residents Alden and Katie Wright, will be one of several hundred walkers expected to participate in Walk4Hearing, a 5K walk this Sunday at Long Beach’s Shoreline Park. Connor was diagnosed with moderate hearing loss during his required kindergarten screening last July. He now sports hearing aids that allow him to hear his family at home, and friends at Williams Elementary.

So far, Connor has raised more than $500 to support the Hearing Loss Association and raise awareness of hearing loss among children and adults.

Sunday’s 5K is open to the public and will raise money for the Hearing Loss Association of America. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10.

Pizza, children, a clown and magician, games, and information booths are part of the 5K celebration.
