Wellness fair at Rancho

DOWNEY - The third annual Stroke Health and Wellness Fair will be held at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center tomorrow from 8 a.m. to noon.The event is free and open to the public. Activities will include a 1K and 5K run/walk/roll, health education booths and literature, bowling, ping pong, raffles, music and entertainment, and more. The event, also called "Roll Around Rancho," is sponsored by Rancho's Stroke and Gerontology Services to increase awareness of stroke health and wellness. The chances of suffering a stroke are affected by controling weight, high blood pressure monitoring, exercise and other activities. "The importance of education on stroke is critical to saving lives," said Jorge Orozco, CEO of Rancho. "The Roll Around Rancho event provides patients and the public with an excellent opportunity to learn about stroke, preventive measures, and recovery after stroke." According to Rancho, stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States.
