Warren beats Fullerton in playoffs

DOWNEY - The Warren High School boys' soccer team currently has an overall record of 6-7-6 and finished league play with a 5-2-3 record.The Bears finished their league schedule in strong fashion with a 2-1 win over defending C.I.F. and state champion Paramount at Warren 2-1 on February 4 and concluded S.G.V.L. play with a victory against Gahr at Gahr on February 6. The Bears defeated Fullerton at Fullerton 4-3 last Friday in a crazy finish to advance to the second round of the C.I.F. Division II playoffs. S.G.V.L. foes Paramount and Lynwood both advanced as well with first round victories over Schurr 7-0 and La Habra 2-1, respectively. Dominguez lost to Royal 1-0 and finished their season with an overall record 10-8-5. Warren hosted Sagerstrom of Santa Ana on Wednesday (score unavailable at press time) while Lynwood hosted Corona Santiago and Paramount traveled to Upland (scores unavailable at press time). The Warren High School girls' soccer team currently has an overall record of 11-7-2 and finished league play with a 7-3 record. The Lady Bears defeated Paramount at Paramount 2-0 on February 4th and defeated Gahr at Warren on February 6th to conclude S.G.V.L. play on a four game win streak. The Lady Bears defeated Canyon Springs at Warren last Friday 3-2 to advance to the second round of the C.I.F. Division IV playoffs where they lost to top seeded South Torrance at Warren, 2-1, on Tuesday. S.G.V.L. foes Lynwood and Paramount were both defeated in the first round by Riverside Poly 6-0 and Serrano 5-0, respectively. Downey, the Division IV number two seed, is the only San Gabriel Valley League team still competing.
