Victim in fatal shooting was liquor store co-owner

DOWNEY — The victim in Tuesday’s night fatal shooting at a Downey liquor store has been identified as the store’s co-owner.

Gurpreet Singh, 44, was shot several times and died behind the counter at ASL Liquor. Police are investigating the shooting as an attempted robbery.

Singh was a resident of Cerritos.
