Dear Editor: Why is state Sen. Tony Mendoza giving any validation to an op-ed published in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune by forwarding it?

The comment is that L.A. County Supervisor Don Knabe’s successor “should be Latino.” I am Latina and would not vote for someone for that reason. Being of Latin American ancestry is not a qualification.

Like MLK Jr. said, “...they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
