The Downey Rose Float

The Downey Rose Float Association’s float entry has passed the latest round of mechanical and test inspections by the Tournament of Roses Parade.  

During the mechanical inspection, tournament officials inspected Downey’s float to ensure its brakes, throttle, engine and transmission were in safe working order. Inspectors also evaluated all fluids (engine oil, transmission fluid, etc.), engine fuel filters, spark plugs and made a complete assessment of the full main chasse’s drive train.

The test inspection examined the float’s driving, steering, stopping, accelerating and overall maneuverability, including the ability of the crew that will navigate the float during the parade.
