State of the City postponed

Downey’s State of the City address, typically given by the mayor and presented by the Downey Chamber of Commerce, has been postponed, city officials said.

No reason was given for the delay. The event — produced by the Downey Chamber of Commerce — was scheduled for Oct. 9 at the Rio Hondo Event Center.

The State of the City address has traditionally been delivered in the spring but Mayor Rick Rodriguez moved the event to the fall to recap his mayoral year. Rodriguez has been absent from the last two City Council meetings.
