Freddie Mac workshop aims to turn renters into homeowners

DOWNEY — A free workshop designed to help renters understand the importance of credit and create a path toward homeownership is set for Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Embassy Suites in Downey.

“The goal is to get more renters into homes in the next year, as rents continue to increase and affordability is already a big challenge,” said Luz Lluncor, branch manager of New World Mortgage and one of the event’s organizers.

The workshop includes guest speakers from Freddie Mac, the government-owned enterprise chartered by Congress in 1970 to keep money flowing to mortgage lenders in support of homeownership and rental housing.

Below is the workshop’s agenda:

8:30-9:30 am: Registration
9:30-10 am: Freddie Mac: Affordable Lending/Products
10-10:30 am: Credit Smart
10:30-11 am: Housing Finance Agency Programs
11-11:30 am: Value of Home Ownership

Registration is limited to 150 people. To sign up, email info@newworld-mtg.com or call (562) 904-2500.
