SEAACA closes to the public, effective today

DOWNEY — The SEAACA animal shelter in Downey closed its doors to the public Thursday in an effort to protect staff from the coronavirus.

“This decision was not taken lightly and numerous factors were considered,” SEAACA said in a statement.

Many SEAACA services will continue via appointment. The shelter’s general telephone lines will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Claims for lost pets can be made by calling (562) 803-3301. Adoption holds can also be made over the phone by calling the same number.

SEAACA is not currently accepting healthy cats or pets surrendered by their owners.
