Roland Norman Jonnum

October 20, 1937 – December 7, 2016 (age: 79)

Born in Williston, North Dakota, Roland was the first child of Orlando and Ethel (Anderson) Jonnum. The young family relocated to Southern California and settled in Downey, where their number grew by two with the births of Stephen and Gail.


Roland graduated from Downey High School in 1955 and attended Compton Junior College before earning an BSME from USC in 1960 and later an MSME from USC and an MBA from UCLA. Roland contracted for a number of aerospace firms and worked on NASA’s Space Shuttle program before moving to Lancaster in 1987 to look after his mother.


Roland is survived by his siblings and their extended families.
