Richard Johnson passes away
DOWNEY – Richard A. Johnson passed away peacefully after a long and hard battle with painful arthritis.
He was born Dec. 1, 1929 in Galesburg, Ill and has two younger brothers, Rodney, deceased, and James that lives in Hemet.
He worked as a truck driver for many years and after retiring when the Company closed, he had different jobs as apartment manager, supermarket manager, etc. After that he decided to quit working completely to travel, which he did for some years by himself, until 20 years ago when he met Margo Baird and they did it together.
They lived in Downey and volunteered at the Barbara J. Riley Center.
A memorial service will be held at Miller Mies Mortuary on Aug. 5 at 1 p.m. The interment will take place at the military cemetery in Riverside.
