Owners of Downey Pizza Company opening Italian restaurant

The owners and operators of Downey Pizza Company have submitted plans to open Smiley’s, a “modern Italian” food restaurant in Downtown Downey, targeting a February or March opening.

Situated at 10919 Downey Avenue, the new location will take over a space previously occupied by a copier/printer repair and retail store.

In addition to façade and onsite improvements, the project calls for the construction of a 756-square foot addition to the rear of the existing 2,000 square-foot building.

Downey’s Planning Commission approved the project unanimously at its June 15 meeting.
