Nursing home fined after death

WHITTIER - A Whittier nursing home has been fined $75,000 by the state after an investigation found that inappropriate treatment and services led to the death of a resident.Orchard Post Acute Care, previously known as Royal Court Health Care, failed to follow policies and procedures related to patient assessment, monitoring and care, according to the California Department of Public Health, which levied the fine. California has the authority to impose fines against nursing facilities it licenses as part of enforcement remedies for poor care. Citations range from as little as $100 to as high as $100,000, depending on the "significance and severity" of the violation.
