DOWNEY – As of April 20, 49% of Downey residents 16 and older have had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccination.

The announcement was made by the city’s emergency manager Rakdy Khlok during a presentation to the Downey City Council on Tuesday.

This week, the CDC announced that fully vaccinated individuals can remove their masks when outside, except for when they are in large crowds of strangers.

This comes as Covid rates dropped low enough for Los Angeles County to enter the final “yellow” tier, however current numbers will need to remain consistent to be able to do so.

Once officially in yellow tier most businesses will be allowed to operate indoors with modifications.
