DOWNEY – At their meeting on Tuesday City Council signed off on the code of ethics that they and future council members will hold themselves accountable to.

This follows the passing of a similar code passed for commissioners, committee, and board members at council’s previous meeting.

After that passing, the council agreed that they should be held to a higher standard of conduct as well, and requested that their own code be brought back for approval.

The council’s code is mostly the same, although includes additional language stating that council members will “remain engaged in council meetings,” including keeping their camera on when participating virtually.

The council approved the new protocols unanimously.
