Matthew Kendall, grandson of Downey residents Mike and Joyce Prokop, has completed Army Infantry basic training. The proud grandparents attended Kendall's graduation ceremony at the Army Infantry Training Center at Fort Benning, Ga. "It was an awesome feeling and a proud moment when Matthew requested that I attach the Blue Infantry Cord on his shoulder," Mike Prokop said, referring to the ritual designating that the young soldier has completed 14 weeks of infantry training.
