DOWNEY — Los Padrinos Juvenile Hill in Downey was locked down for more than four hours after someone tried to throw contraband over a wall, authorities said Monday.

The lockdown was imposed just before noon Saturday at the juvenile lockup at 7285 Quill Dr., according to the Los Angeles County Probation Department.

The suspect was taken into custody, probation officials said.

The facility was placed on lockdown and visitation was canceled while Campus Safety and Security Operations officers and K-9 Firearms teams did a thorough sweep of the premises for additional contraband, officials said. The lockdown was lifted at 4:33 p.m.

The exact nature of the contraband was not released, although K-9 Firearms teams were deployed.
