Letter to the Editor: Tree request

Dear Editor:

I wrote this letter one year ago and the request remains the same:

We have lived in this beautiful city of Downey for 20 years, living in a corner house with no trees on either side of our property for some time now.

Having called City Hall many, many times about planting some trees, we were instructed not to proceed with planting in our corner, that this was a city issue and they would take care of it. Understandable since sidewalks belong to the city.

But five years later, we are still living in our corner house with no trees. Trees help the environment. How do we go about getting trees planted?
