Letter to the Editor: Open letter to car thieves
Dear Editor:
Hope this doesn’t offend you but the consequences of your actions are many.
So you decided you needed to steal a ‘91 Honda for a 4-year-old battery and a budget radio? While you were at it, the ransacking of our personal goods provided a handicapped placard, all the medical cards needed to be covered by health insurance, personal paperwork that was to be submitted for a disability claim of a time sensitive nature, a 9+ year old laptop, a tote filled with paper masks and other personal irreplaceable items.
Maybe you didn’t realize my daughter utilizes a wheelchair and my roommate has many medical appointments as she has impaired health.
Stonewood Mall has your theft on tape, Downey PD’s forensic division currently has the tape and due to an officer’s promptness to take our report, our vehicle was found abandoned yet inoperable in East Los Angeles. Thanks for emptying the gas tank so it was even more difficult to get the car out of impound.
If you could forward the $500 spent to retrieve our only form of transportation, simply turn yourself in, even though it will make your bail funds a bit short of what would be needed to gain your freedom.
