Letter to the Editor: Support for Rodriguez

Dear Editor:

Since when does being a woman show that you have what it takes to be President of the United States or a City Council member? ("Support for Medrano," Letters to the Editor)

Downey has had some great councilwomen in the past so we are not living in the dark ages here, but to state that gender is a qualification is a huge stretch.

Medrano’s $29,000 in campaign funds raised came almost exclusively from those living outside our fine city, so the fact that she attended Downey schools is completely negated. She obviously could not raise funds here in Downey.

Rick Rodriguez has more campaign funds than Medrano and they came primarily from Downey residents. He has my vote -- and I hope the votes of many others in District 3!
