Letter to the Editor: Proud to work with Cari White
Dear Editor:
There is no mistake in assuming the words “Downey Unified was disingenuous in its messages to seniors” are malicious and mean-spirited. In using Dr. Cari White’s words as an “example,” it is indeed directly offending her and every staff member, student, and parent who supports her and works tirelessly beside her. There was nothing constructive about the criticisms present in the Op-Ed article or the “clarification” whatsoever.
While I have nothing to say to Mr. Rojas or Ms. Reyes, I am proud to share what I know about Dr. White and DUSD.
Dr. White has been a source of strength and hope for all students, families, and staff members since the day we realized how deeply our community was about to be affected by COVID-19. Information was shared as it was received, and plans were constantly being adjusted accordingly. DUSD has been outstanding at acting quickly while still making informed decisions to keep our community safe.
A false narrative does not exist – only a community of educators who will do anything and everything to spread positivity and support in this time of uncertainty.
I look forward to this evening’s spectacular WHS celebration put on by some of the most genuine, compassionate, and educated people I know.
