Letter to the Editor: Norwalk's homeless problem
Dear Editor:
Every city unfortunately has to deal with the fact that there are haves and have nots. A very simple way to put a very complex problem.
However, when we ponder how to fix a problem (and of course the road to hell is paved with good intentions) how do we ensure the safety of the people who do want to live in this community, who do want to seek out mental health treatment, who do want to pay their bills, who do want to have an environment for the children that is safe?
Unfortunately, myself and other residents of Norwalk do not have the luxury to wait for the homeless to get the services they need, putting our own safety at risk. We are not able to shop, rider bikes, walk or even have our own little oasis (home) without being accosted by the homeless who are violent and dangerous in this community.
Who is going to do something about this? Who is going to talk about this before it becomes too late?
What about our property values? We care about our homes in our community; we shouldn’t be walking and being accosted by the homeless.
Our leaders and the Sheriff’s Department need to do something now.
