Letter to the Editor: Misleading ad

Dear Editor:

I was extremely upset to see how low Alexandria Contreras has gone to instill fear in Downey residents to gain votes.

The press release announced on Oct. 20 by the City of Downey clearly points out Downey "STRONGLY" opposes the freeway expansion. Yet I received a campaign flyer days later from Contreras advertising lies, alleging that the current Downey City Council will not commit to saving our neighborhoods. Contreras claimed to be the only candidate committed to stopping this project with a picture of a big bulldozer.

We have come to a crossroads of decision, a political election wherein the people of our great city will shape their future. Where the voters have an option to support a campaign of love and passion for this community, a leader that refuses to sacrifice her integrity with a smear campaign. Wherein falsehoods are camouflaged to appear as truth in Contreras’ flyer for residents to fear what is not true.

So I pray that we not be led into the darkness of what shouldn't be, but rather be guided into the light of our dreams.
