Letter to the Editor: High vocabulary

Dear Editor:

I am one of your readers who likes to learn the meaning of words. Recently your newspaper provided me that opportunity.

An article about the Downey City Council candidates forum included words like “probity” (quality of having strong moral principles), “coprolalia” (repetitive use of obscene language) and “cognoscente” (well informed).

I would like to acknowledge Lawrence Christon, the author of the article, for his erudition.
