Letter to the Editor: Former mayors endorse Elvira Meraz

Dear Editor:

The Former Downey Mayors Coalition reaffirms its support for Elvira Meraz in the current Downey City Council District 1 race.

Due to our Facebook page being taken over by one individual, there have been erroneous assertions about our past decision. The misuse of this page is currently being addressed.

We would like for it to be made clear that the Former Downey Mayors Coalition did officially endorse Elvira Meraz for the District 1 race in Southeast Downey.

The ballots were already mailed to your places of residence and are due by Nov. 7th.

Please go out and vote!

Dear Editor:

I am unsure what precipitated this outrageous smear campaign against Elvira Meraz. What are they afraid of?

She is a young Latina mother, PTA president, business owner. I stated all of this and more in my last letter, published two weeks ago.

The Former Downey Mayors Coalition voted unanimously to support her candidacy, but not her opponents. They voted multiple times with the same conclusion, to support Elvra Meraz.

At this time, the majority of these former mayors still support her wholeheartedly, though it is not broadcast as so. They know what District 1 needs. So do I.
