Letter to the Editor: Anti-abortion falsehoods

Dear Editor:

In response to Marilyn Madru's letter ("Planned Parenthood," 3/3/16), The Phyllis Schlafly Report is a conservative organization who opposes abortion. Also, the quote Ms. Madru cited by Dr. Nucatola was from the highly edited videos released last summer by the Center for Medical Progress, an anti-abortion organization.

Those two organizations will do whatever it takes to ban abortion, and as we saw last summer, those highly edited videos renewed the controversy.

As a result of those videos, many states conducted their own investigations into Planned Parenthood, and to date, the investigations found no wrong doing. The investigation in Texas did find wrong doing with the two people who made the videos and both of them have been indicted on a charge of tampering with a governmental record, a felony, and on a misdemeanor charge related to purchasing human organs.

Ms. Madru also stated that Planned Parenthood profits from the harvesting of aborted fetuses, this is not true. Planned Parenthood can legally be reimbursed for the storage and transportation of the fetal tissue. Planned Parenthood decided that in order to prevent future controversies regarding "making profit" claims and to move on from the latest controversy, they will no longer accept reimbursements.

Hopefully this will be the last abortion controversy, but let's not forget, it's the woman's choice, they have the right to do decide what they want, nobody else should be deciding for them based on religious or personal beliefs.
