Kitty Madelyn DeTilla
October 9, 1925 - January 5, 2021
Madelyn DeTilla entered into the more immediate presence of her Lord and Savior as she died peacefully in her sleep at age 95 in La Mirada, California.
Kitty Madelyn Dennis was born in Baxter Springs, Kansas to Vaud and Naomi Dennis. The family, including two younger brothers, moved to Southern California during the 1930s Dust Bowl.
Madelyn graduated from Excelsior High School in 1943. She married Laurence DeTilla, a U.S. Navy pilot, on May 7, 1944. They moved to Downey in 1950. They were active, with their three children, in the Moravian Church of Downey. Madelyn was also involved in Forest Home Women’s Auxiliary, Church Women United, Bible Study Fellowship, Woman’s Club, PTA, Girl Scouts, and later United Methodist Church. She spent her last 7 years active at The Palms senior residence in La Mirada.
Madelyn was predeceased by Laurence DeTilla, husband of 68 years. She is survived by children Cheryle (Clark) Steddom, G. Paul (Pamela) DeTilla, Laurel (Jay) Anderson, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 1 great, great granddaughter. She was a loving and much loved Christian woman.
