From Stargazing to STEM: What’s Coming to the Columbia Memorial Space Center
DOWNEY—The Columbia Memorial Space Center is gearing up for a month filled with exciting, educational, and family-friendly events aimed at engaging the community in hands-on science and space exploration. From astronomy nights to interactive workshops, there’s something for everyone looking to ignite their curiosity.
One of the highlights is Family Night, set for Wednesday, February 28, from 6-8 p.m. This free event offers engaging activities suitable for all ages, providing a fun and educational evening for families looking to explore space and science together.
For those interested in interactive experiments, Saturday Science will take place on March 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This event is designed for children ages 6-10, offering a morning of hands-on discovery. Tickets are available at $20 for members and $24 for non-members.
Astronomy enthusiasts will have an opportunity to gaze at the cosmos during Astronomy Night on March 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This free event will feature celestial discussions, fun activities, and telescope viewings led by expert astronomers.
Young innovators interested in drones can take part in Girls in STEM: Drones Day on March 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This empowering event encourages girls to explore the world of drone technology through hands-on experiences.
Additionally, visitors should note the Space Center’s early closures on February 14 (4 p.m.), February 21 (3 p.m.), and March 21 (3 p.m.).
