Free oil filter exchange Oct. 10

DOWNEY - The city of Downey is sponsoring a free used oil collection event Oct. 10 at Pep Boys, 10231 Lakewood Blvd.Residents who bring in their used oil filter between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. will receive a new Fram filter free. Residents can also bring in their used motor oil and oil filters for recycling. The event will also feature free giveaways, including used motor oil recycling containers. Motor oil for recycling should be in clean, non-metal, non-breakable containers up to 5 gallons in size.. Oil filters should be placed inside a plastic bag to prevent leaks.
