Duane Croom passes away at 53

DOWNEY – Former Downey resident Duane Croom passed away Jan. 13 at his home in Prior Lake, Minn. He was 53. He was born Jan. 11, 1962 in Downey to parents Lloyd and Sonya Duane (Dill) Croom. He graduated from Downey High School in 1980 and worked for Anchor Glass for more than 30 years in Los Angeles and Shakopee, Minn.

On July 29, 1995 he married Sharon Jones in Prior Lake. Together they had three boys: Cory, Taylor and Connor.

He was diagnosed with liver cancer on Dec. 14, 2014.

Duane is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Cory Croom, Taylor Croom and Connor Croom; grandson, Carter; mother, Sonya (Thomas) Morton; father, Lloyd (Co) Croom; brothers, Lonnie (Michelle) Croom and Kevin (Ann) Croom; and other relatives and friends.

The visitation was held Jan. 18 at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation in Prior Lake. A celebration of life service was Jan. 19 at Friendship Church in Shakopee, with interment at Spring Lake Cemetery in Prior Lake.
