Drug treatment director wins $250K

SANTA FE SPRINGS - Maria Solorio, program director for a drug and alcohol treatment center, won $250,000 after buying a lottery ticket in Montebello, lottery officials said this week.Solorio purchased the Strike it Rich scratcher at J&B Donuts, located at 2345 W. Whittier Blvd. After buying her maple bar and milk, she was at the California Lottery's district office in Santa Fe Springs one hour later to claim her prize. Solorio said she will use the money to pay bills and possibly put down a deposit on a house. "I've also been throwing around the idea of opening a sober living home," she said, explaining that she grew up in an alcoholic household. "I figured if I couldn't help them, maybe I can help somebody else."
