Downey gains 16 cases overnight, now at 211

DOWNEY — Health officials confirmed 16 new Covid-19 cases in Downey overnight, bringing the city’s total to 211.

The number of coronavirus cases is rising dramatically as testing becomes more widely available. On Wednesday, L.A. County officials said 1,541 people had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Officials also confirmed 56 new deaths. Health officials have not disclosed in which cities deaths have occurred.
