Cuban comedy show announced at Downey Theatre

DOWNEY - Alexis Valdés, a Cuban-born comedian, actor, singer, and monologist will perform at the Downey Theatre this December, show organizers announced Tuesday.

This is Valdés second visit to the Los Angeles area, performing to a sell out crowd of over 1,100 the first time he visited in La Mirada back in 2009.

Presented by Cafe’ La Llave, the comedy show is titled “Tu Primo El Mono” and is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8, starting at 5 p.m. at the Downey Theatre.

The production is a benefit show for Courage Forward, a Downey-based non-profit that provides support services to veterans.

An East Coast box office hit, “Tu Primo El Mono” is an anthropological and scientific look of the human being with the prodigious pen of Alexis Valdés, who squanders intelligent humor around the “Evolution of Man”.

The humorist questions the privileges of the evolutionary chain, taking into account that primates do not pay insurance, taxes or even rent.

“Are we not the ones who were supposed to be the superior species or is it really not so and have they actually deceived us?” asks Valdes.

Tickets start at $39 and are on sale now at the Downey Theatre box office. For tickets, call (562) 861-8211 or go to DowneyTheatre.org.
