Crime Report: Nov. 25, 2019

Saturday, November 9:

At approximately 2:00 am, an attempted street robbery occurred near Downey Avenue and 7th Street. Two males in dark clothing, one armed with a handgun, approached a male victim and demanded his property. A fight ensued and the suspects fled with no loss.

At approximately 2:05 am, a second street robbery occurred near Nance Street and Myrtle. Two suspects exited a black Mercedes and robbed the victims of their cell phones and wallets and fled the location The suspects entered their vehicle and fled the location. Detectives are investigating.

Officers working the downtown area during the peak nighttime hours made one DUI arrest and issued several traffic citations and alcohol-related Municipal Code citations.


Sunday, November 10:

Over the weekend a burglary occurred at Gauldin Elementary. An unknown suspect forced entry into a classroom and took 16 iPad tablets with an approximate value of $6,000. Detectives are investigating.
