Crime Report - Feb. 16, 2016

Friday, Feb. 5: 

At 6:05 PM, officers responded to a report of a “purse snatching” at Lakewood and Deming. The victim, a Lakewood resident, was walking N/B Lakewood when the suspect , an adult male in his 20’s, approached from behind and took her purse out of her hand. The victim chased the suspect W/B Deming, where he was last seen running W/B Golden out of sight. Detectives are investigating.

At 8:00 PM, detectives were checking the north parking lot of Rio San Gabriel park (9612 Ardine St) regarding a call of narcotics activity. They contacted three adult subjects inside a vehicle and found two of the three appeared intoxicated. Detectives saw several balloons and two nitrous oxide tanks on the floor of the vehicle. The suspects were arrested and later released on citations.

During the evening hours Crime Impact Team members issued 2 traffic citations, 4 parking citations, 2 possession of marijuana citations, 3 municipal code citations (all from Rio San Gabriel Park), 2 warrant arrests (both from Rio San Gabriel Park), and 1 DUI arrest.

Saturday, Feb. 6: 

At 1:40 PM, a male adult suspect entered the cellular phone store at 13451 Lakewood and approached an adult female who was shopping and demanded money. When she hesitated the suspect showed her the handle of a handgun in his waistband. She gave him her money and he then approached the store manager and demanded money. The manager complied and the suspect fled the scene. Detectives are investigating.

At 2:40 PM, officers responded to a report of a traffic accident with an armored car striking a building at 10415 Paramount Blvd. The armored car was north on Paramount when it was struck by a vehicle entering from Farm St. The armored truck continued across the S/B lanes and struck the apartment building. No injuries were reported.

At 7:50 PM, a resident in the 8700 block of Rosecrans called to report that he returned home to find an adult male subject inside his residence. The suspect fled the residence and was last seen running S/B out of sight. It appears the suspect forced open the rear sliding glass door to gain access. Once inside, the suspect ransacked the residence and took approx. $7000 worth of woman's jewelry. Detectives are investigating.

Sunday, Feb. 7: 

At 10:30 AM, a resident called to report that her 13 year-old daughter was walking to church when a white van driven by an adult male passed by and “cat called” the juvenile. The driver then made a U-turn and approached her. The driver asked the girl to get into his vehicle however she refused. The victim's mother saw what was happening and approached the suspect and told him to leave her daughter alone. Detectives are investigating.
