Crime Report: 5/6/21

  • On April 26 at approximately 3:15 pm, Walgreen’s (9018 Firestone Blvd) called and advised that a subject entered the store and removed a gun from his backpack. Prior to officers arrival, the store advised the subject was robbing the cashier. Due to a delay, officers believed the suspect was still in the store upon arrival. However, the suspect fled just prior to officers arrival. A suspect description was broadcast and an officer located the suspect to the front of In N Out. The suspect was detained without incident. The suspect was positively identified and the loss (U.S. currency) was found on his person. A search of the path the suspect fled in resulted in the firearm being located. The suspect was booked for armed robbery.

  • Detectives are investigating an assault that occurred on April 27 at about 9:15 am in the 8800 block of Rosecrans Ave. The suspect and victim were at the self-carwash when the suspect became angry with the victim for not moving his car. The suspect approached the victim and spit on him. The victim confronted the suspect, who in turn brandished an approximate 2-foot long metal bar and assaulted the victim. The victim was struck in the arm multiple times but declined medical attention. Prior to fleeing the scene, the suspect used the metal bar to smash out some of the victim’s windows on his car.

  • On April 30 at approximately 9:20 pm, officers responded to 8201 2nd St. (Downtown Parking Structure) regarding a vandalism. A juvenile male and juvenile female used skateboards to smash the windows and damage a parked vehicle on the top floor of the parking structure. The two juveniles were detained, cited, and released to the custody of their parents at the scene. Officers were unable to contact the registered owner of the vehicle.

  • On May 2 at approximately 2 am, officers responded to the parking lot of Bar Louie (8860 Apollo) and found an unresponsive adult male in the parking lot. He had no pulse and was not breathing. A friend of the subject advised he had just snorted an unknown substance and became unresponsive. Officers administered narcan and began first aid. The male began to breathe again. He was transported to Kaiser and was stabilized at the hospital.
