Crime Report

Wednesday, April 29 At 6:10 p.m., Downey police officers responded to the Home Depot Store located at 7121 Firestone Blvd., regarding a robbery investigation. The responding officers spoke with a member of the stores Loss Prevention team who reported 2 males had gone into the store and selected several items from store shelves. The suspects attempted to walk out of the store without paying for the items. When they were confronted by Loss Prevention one of the suspects brandished a pair of needle nose pliers and threatened the employees. The suspects dropped the merchandise and ran away. Downey officers searched for one of the suspects who was seen running into the area of the railroad tracks. He was located a short time later and arrested for robbery.

 

Thursday, April 30

At 10:55 p.m., Downey officers responded to LA Fitness located at 7230 Firestone Blvd regarding a robbery investigation. Responding officers spoke with the victim who reported he was parked behind the business when he was confronted by a male suspect. The suspect initially offered to sell the victim a laptop style computer and after agreeing on a price the suspect brandished a handgun. The suspect took the victim’s money and cell phone. Downey officers checked the area and located the suspect a short time later. The suspect was in possession of some of the victim’s property. He was arrested and booked for robbery.

 

Saturday, April 25

At 1:50 a.m., a Downey police officer was driving in the Downtown area when he saw two subjects who appeared to be intoxicated. The subjects were in the rear area of 11000 block of Downey Avenue involved in an argument. The officers conducted an investigation and determined both subjects were drunk in public and both were arrested.

 

At 7:25 p.m., officers responded to La Sierra Meat Market located at 12800 Paramount Blvd regarding a robbery investigation. Responding officers spoke with the victim who reported a male suspect entered the store and forced the victim to the check stand area. The suspect removed a knife from his back pocket, held it to the victim and demanded the cash register be opened. The suspect took approximately $400 cash and a cell phone, and fled the location on foot. Detectives are investigating.

 

At 10:45 p.m., Downey officers served two felony arrest warrants at a residence in the 8200 block of Lindell Ave. The subjects were arrested without incident.

 

Sunday, April 26

At 2:30 a.m., Downey police officers went to the Hookah Lounge (11029 Downey Ave) for a permit compliance check. Officers found several violations, including the observation of a DJ playing after 2:00 a.m., and having the rear door to their business standing open. The manager and owner were both advised and were cooperative.

 

At 4:35 a.m., Downey police officers assisted the South Gate Police Department on an armed robbery investigation. Downey officers went to the area of Flatbush and Rosecrans to assist in locating a vehicle that was involved in an armed robbery. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested without incident.
