Friday, April 10 At 2:30 a.m., two male adults were standing in front of an apartment building in the 9330 block of Elm Vista when four male suspects drove up and contacted them. A fight ensued between the victims and suspects, and during the fight one of the suspects produced a handgun and pointed it at the victims. The suspects fled form the location prior to police arrival. Detectives are investigating.

 

Saturday, April 11

At 3:50 p.m., a driver was stopped in his vehicle for a red signal at the intersection of Imperial and Barlin when the car beside him began to move into his lane. As the victim couldn’t move, the suspect became upset and raised an object, believed to be a handgun and pointed it at him. Detectives are investigating.

 

Sunday, April 12

At 2:35 p.m., a 17-year-old male suspect took merchandise from JC Penney’s (Stonewood Mall) and left without paying. Loss prevention officers confronted the suspect outside the store. The suspect brandished a large knife and pointed it at the loss prevention officers. Loss prevention officers grabbed the suspect by the hands and disarmed him. The suspect was detained and arrested without further incident. During the altercation, one of the loss prevention officers sustained a minor laceration to his hand.

 

At 2:50 p.m., a subject was retrieving money from the ATM at 8555 Florence Ave. The suspect approached him and asked for money. When the victim refused, the suspect reached into his pocket, advised he had a knife, and threatened to cut him. Fearing for his safety, the victim pulled out cash from his pocket and handed it to the suspect, who fled on foot. Officers detained the suspect without incident a few blocks away and recovered the loss. The suspect was arrested and booked for robbery.

 

At 6:55 p.m., dispatch advised of an Automated License Plate activation regarding a reported stolen vehicle at Firestone and Patton. An officer later located the vehicle westbound on Florence and followed it as it turned on to northbound Orizaba. The driver accelerated in an attempt to evade and a brief pursuit ensued. The driver continued w/b on Lubec, driving erratic and at a high rate of speed, thus the officer cancelled the pursuit before the driver entered the intersection at Paramount on a red signal, colliding into a vehicle traveling southbound. The driver fled on foot to the rear of a residence on the 9800 block of Paramount. A perimeter was set and the driver, a Bell Gardens resident, was taken into custody without incident. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision sustained minor injuries. The suspect was booked for felony evading and transported to LA County Jail.
