Crime Report: 1/28/21

On 1/20/2021 at approximately 2:50 am, the victim responded to the station to report a domestic violence incident in the 11700 block of Gurley Ave.

The suspect and victim live together and began arguing because the suspect believed their youngest child does not belong to him. During the argument, the suspect became angry and hit the victim in the face with the back of his hand several times, causing visible injuries. The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened to kill her. The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle and officers were unable to locate him. Detectives are investigating the incident.


•Detectives are investigating a grand theft that occurred on 1/21/2021 at about 7 pm at the Kay Jewelers at Stonewood Mall. The suspect entered the jewelry store and asked to see three rings from a glass display. The employee handed the suspect the rings and he fled the store on foot and exited the mall. The suspect continued running northbound through the parking lot towards the residential neighborhood near Cecilia Street out of sight. Detectives responded in to assist with the investigation. The loss is valued to be approximately $30,000.


•On 1/24/2021 at approximately 3 am, officers responded to the 9900 block of Tecum Ave regarding an arson. The adult male victim was awakened to the sound of his kitchen window shattering. The victim went to the kitchen and observed the female suspect standing outside the broken window with a small improvised Molotov cocktail that had been placed in the window sill.

The victim put out the fire and observed the suspect walk to the backyard. Officers were called and located the suspect in the backyard. She was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and fully loaded magazine. The suspect was arrested for the arson and for possession of a loaded firearm.
