Crime Report: 12/2/19
On Monday, November 25th, at approximately 5:45 am, a hit and run traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Lakewood and Firestone. Two vehicles collided in the intersection, then one driver attempted to flee, driving over the center median and knocking down a palm tree. The hit and run driver fled the scene on foot, leaving behind his vehicle. Detectives are attempting to identify and locate the driver.
On Monday morning, it was discovered that Lewis Elementary, 13220 Bellflower Blvd, was burglarized and an undetermined amount of property was stolen. In addition, several buildings were vandalized. Downey Police detectives are investigating.
On Thursday, at 5 pm, a 37-year-old male transient was arrested in the 12700 block of Paramount Blvd, after forcing entry into a home. Officers located the suspect showering inside the home and took him into custody. The resident/homeowner was not at home at the time.
On Saturday, November 30th, at approximately 4 pm, Downey Police officers were patrolling in the area of Paramount Blvd, south of Imperial Highway, when they located a Toyota Camry previously used in a robbery in the City of Pico Rivera. The vehicle was stopped by officers and the occupants were detained for further investigation by Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies as the crime occurred in their jurisdiction.
On Sunday, December 1st, at 11:15 am, Downey officers located a stolen vehicle from Moreno Valley and arrested the 24-year-old driver.
On Sunday, December 1st, at 7 pm, Downey officers located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the area of Paramount Blvd and Gallatin Road. The officers conducted surveillance on the vehicle and arrested a 52-year-old Pico Rivera man when he returned to the vehicle.
